The Glee star Naya Rivera was a guest host on The View, this past Monday, when she had an opinion on showering.
“I think that white people shower a lot more than ethnic,” Rivera said as Wallace couldn’t help but burst out into a fit of giggles. “I feel like showering more than once a day or every day is such a white people thing.”
After her comments, Rosie O’Donnell proceeded to call upon a stunned African-American woman in the audience, who insisted she is a “frequent showerer” before Rivera defended her remarks.
“My mom is half black, half Puerto Rican. She showers every day, so I can say this. But I’m now married to a white man,” she said, referring to husband Ryan Dorsey, whom she secretly wed in July 2014. “And he showers a lot, like two, three times a day.
“I’m like, ‘What are you doing?'” she added with a laugh, mocking her hubby’s frequent habit.
During the silly debate, Rivera also revealed how often she showers and insisted that her cleanliness is spot-on.
As soon as people heard her comment on hygiene, she was instantly bashed for it. My family is ethnic and they take shows at a minimum of two times a day. I don’t think it has to do with race, it’s about hygiene. Some people can go three days without showing and some people can go only six hours without a showing. It’s all about your body type. If you go three days without a showing who am to say anything but just don’t go that long smelling. I know what dermatologist say but I recommend a shower once or twice a day. I don’t know maybe its just me but the feeling I get when I take a shower is extraordinary. To end I don’t think this comment was supposed to be taken as an offense but of course it was.
